Description: With every mobile phone manufacturer in the world churning out top-end phones left, right and centre, which one is the best for you? And if you're talking music phones, which one IS the music master? Today, we look at 2 of the big rivals in this music phone war: the Nokia N82 and Sony Ericsson W960i.
Released on the world first was the Nokia N82, that takes the elements that made the Nokia N95 a success, and puts them into a wonderfully sleek candybar body (candybar meaning it's neither a flip nor a slidephone... think 'open-face') But it's not just about music, so perhaps a better way to think of it is as a multimedia phone. Yes, it does have exceptionally good music playback, but it offers far more than JUST that.

Take for example, the camera. It comes in at a whopping great 5 megapixels, and with Carl Zeiss lenses, the output is truly beautiful to behold. And then of course, you can send those photos on using MMS, Bluetooth or email, so it's all about sharing your visual masterpieces. The Nokia N82 also carries across one of the N95's killer apps: built-in GPS. The big difference is you get it completely FREE. So, not only does the N82 become a top-end camera, it ALSO becomes your route planner and map al in one. With all that, the music may seem to be second fiddle, but that's not to say it isn't great quality. Because it is, bathing your ears in the smooth sounds or block rockin' beats they deserve.

But in the world of music phones, it comes up against its biggest rival, the new Sony Ericsson W960i. Following on from its ancestor, the W950i, this phone really does take the Walkman name to dizzying new heights. The Walkman player is, as you'd expect, simply amazing. I could tell you about playback controls, and how you can set up playlists, but let's face it, the IMPORTANT thing is how it sounds. And... well... it sounds phenomenal! Add in a huge touchscreen, frighteningly fast internet access, a gorgeous 3 megapixel camera and a whopping 8Gb of memory, and it makes the W960i one seriously nice bit of kit.

But the big question is: which is better? Well, that's a toughie. If you're after an out and out music monster, a serious replacement for your own mp3 player, then it has to be the Sony Ericson W960i. If you want it for other features, and you love the idea of built-in GPS, then the Nokia N82 is the phone for you. But, let's face it... whichever you go for, you're going to get one heck of a phone!
